Remembrance
The Act of Remembrance takes place on the Sunday nearest the 11th of November and begins at 10.50am, so that the two minutes' silence may be observed during the Service.
The Service of Remembrance is one of the two occasions that the Auld Kirk acts as the town Church. This involves members of the Local Authority, including the Provost, MPs and MSPs, the Lord Lieutenant and Members of Her Majesty’s Armed Services coming together to remember those who gave their lives during the various conflicts of the past century. Later the Minister conducts a short Service at the Cenotaph in Wellington Square.
Kirkin' o' the Council
After each Local Election, the members of the new Council attend Morning Worship in the Auld Kirk for a special service called “The Kirkin' o' the Council”, when God’s blessing is asked for the new Councillors.
